Fri. December 26, 2008: After enjoying a great Christmas Holiday we departed on a 10 day trip sponsored by Izorline. We have a great load of bait and are hoping to put it to good use. Check back for our day by day reports from the bridge of the Intrepid. "The Intrepid Team"
Sat. December 27, 2008: We are traveling south rigging our tackle and enjoying a nice ride despite the choppy sea conditions. Today's plan is to stop somewhere along the way to get our lines wet and try for some dinner. One more seminar and then we will be headed for Cow Town. Hope they bite!!! "The Intrepid Team" GO CHARGERS..........
Sun. December 28, 2008: We started the fishing portion of this trip on a good note. The long run down to the lower banks was broken up this afternoon with an excellent stop on 18-25 lb Yellowtail. Everyone on board was able to land some nice Yellows with a few hot sticks getting near limits in only a few hours time. The weather is improving by the minute and we are now on our way to hunt for the trophies. Wish us luck.. "The Intrepid Team"
Mon. December 29, 2008: Well, we knew it would take some looking to relocate the fish, and it did. We spent the first half of the day hunting along with the rest of the fleet. Around midday we found our first school, but it did not respond for us. Shortly after that one we got on a school that stayed with us for the remainder of the afternoon. We scratched away at the giant Tuna and the end result was 2 more SUPER COWS for the Intrepid anglers along with fish in the low 200's. Lucky anglers were Mick Coats with a fish that taped at 325 lb's and Lee Shepard with a 305 pounder. Henry Aguilar with a 220 and one more that taped at 298 lb's. We will be at this location again tomorrow. Wish us luck. "The Intrepid Team"
Tues. December 30, 2008: Today was another day of scratch fishing for the cows. We lost a monster fish just after daybreak due to the hook straightening out. This was a HUGE fish!!! The fish put on a great show and in the end won the battle. Who knows how big it was, but we got a great look at it and to say it was over 300 lb's is an understatement. We did get some very nice Tuna today however. Hot stick was David Choate with two cows, one at 219 lb's and the other at 270 lb's. We had three other cows for the day and a couple under the 200 mark. The weather is perfect! We will give this area another try tomorrow. "The Intrepid Team"
Wed. December 31, 2008: What a way to spend the last day of 2008. Today was our day to shine. We knew these fish were going to bite one day and today was it... The final total for the day is as follows: 17 Tuna with 14 over 200 lb's and 2 more over 300 lb's. Lucky anglers were Fred Gates with a 305 lb fish and David Choate with a fish at 302.5 lb's. Marilyn Reece with a 291 lb Tuna, Taija (Teddy) Katsumata with a 277 lb Tuna, Edward Plants with a 277 lb fish, Robert Brown with a 253 lb fish, and the list goes on. We are blessed with great weather and great company. We will be at this spot again tomorrow and hope to start the New Year the way we ended this one. Have a Safe and Happy New Year from the Intrepid Crew.....
Thur. January 1, 2009: The New Year started out on the slow side as far as catching big Tuna goes, but by the afternoon things got turned around and we once again boated some very nice fish. We had fish from the 170 lb range on up to our largest fish of the day which taped out at 336 lb's. This is INCREDIBLE to say the least.. We did have a couple of heartbreaks again today. We lost a very large Tuna that required three back-up rigs to get him slowed down. After over two hours on the fish he chewed through the line and swam away a free giant. The big fish honors go to Bud Ruschmaupt with the 336 lb Tuna and David Choate with a 313.6 lb fish! Needless to say, we will finish off the trip right here tomorrow before heading up the line for home. Happy New Year from "The Intrepid Team"
Fri. January 2, 2009: Today was a different day as far as catching goes. We did get a couple more fish over the 200 lb mark and some in the 160-170 lb range. As we leave the area one can only be in awe at the quality of these fish. We have never seen so many giant fish (fish over 300 lbs) at one time. It is breath taking to watch them blow up around the boat and chase baits! Big fish of the day however was a 234 lb fish for Mark Bueker. We did have some losses today. We will be posting more photos of the trip during our travels home. "The Intrepid Team"
Sat. January 3, 2009: We have great weather for our ride up the line. We would like to take this moment to thank our sponsors. Avet Reels and Seeker Rods again made this catch a reality. The Avets performed great, even after they were thrown overboard with the back-up rigs. Seeker rods are the finest big fish rods on the market today. If we were going to buy an outfit to fish for these giants it would most definitely be an Avet 50w with a Super Seeker 6463xxxxH. Seaguar Fluorocarbon line also made the difference for us. Last but not least, Izorline, our trip sponsor. Thanks for the great trip and your great products. This is what everyone dreams about when it comes to Cow Town!! We have possibly 6 fish over the 300 lb mark and many others in the very high 200's.. Our E.T.A for the landing is 9:00 am Monday morning. It should be a great showing as the fleet as a whole has possibly 20 fish over 300 lb's!! This should be a good day at the docks. "The Intrepid Team"
